About Kate Farnsworth
I was born and raised in the Madison area but moved to Washington, D.C. to obtain my undergraduate degree in Political Communication at George Washington University. While there, I interned on Capitol Hill and for news outlets such as BBC and NBC’s Meet the Press. I also spent a semester studying in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
My heart and connection to family ultimately brought me back to Madison to follow in my father’s footsteps and attend law school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While in law school, I was a board member of the Mock Trial Team and spent my summers interning for the Wisconsin Innocence Project and clerking for the former Gingras, Cates & Luebke.
In the seven years since graduating, I dedicated my practice to plaintiff’s personal injury and medical malpractice cases, working alongside my father as we took on insurance companies, trucking companies and large hospital conglomerate defendants on behalf of our injured clients and their families.
So far in my career, I have worked on all types of cases, from motor vehicle crashes and dog bite cases to complex trucking and medical malpractice cases involving devastating injuries, wrongful deaths and complicated legal claims against large corporate defendants.
In 2023, I brought my knowledge and expertise to Gingras, Thomsen & Wachs. In my experience, the key to successful advocacy is the ability to take bold yet measured actions to root out those who violate the safety rules that protect us all. My mission is full, fair and complete compensation to my clients while working to deter unacceptable and unsafe behavior in our community.
Aside from my work as an attorney, I love to cook and entertain my friends and family. I also spend as much time as I can around the water, boating on Lake Mendota and scuba diving. Creating memories with my husband, our one-year-old son and our dog, Opie, is another one of my favorite things to do.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what would you do? I would be an Instagram-famous recipe developer and cookbook author. As a kid, I spent a lot of time with my mom in the kitchen (and still do!) where I developed her same passion for taking care of loved ones by making beautiful meals that bring everyone together around a table.
When you’re not working… You can find me on the lake, biking to a local brewery, hiking at a state park, baking yet another loaf of sourdough or shamelessly entertaining my son with my dance moves.
